Where to advertise in Switzerland
There are four broad places to advertise in Switzerland, and they differ less in reach than in what they take from you. This guide sets out how each model works and what it costs, so you can pick on the facts. Nikita is one of the four and I say plainly where it is weaker.
Classifieds portals
The largest audiences in this market are on classifieds portals. You write a listing, upload photos and appear in a city index. Most of them monetise position: a basic listing is cheap or free, and visibility is bought with credits, bumps, featured slots or a monthly package that keeps you near the top.
The strength is reach, and it is real. The costs are that your spend, not your work, decides where you appear; contact usually happens off-platform with no record; and photos sit on public URLs that get copied to other sites. Verification, where it exists, is often a document photo checked by eye.
Agency websites
An agency advertises on your behalf, handles enquiries and screens clients. You get reach and a buffer between you and first contact without doing the marketing yourself, which suits people who do not want to run their own channel.
The trade is independence and margin. Agency commissions are typically a large share of the fee, the agency controls pricing and scheduling, and the client relationship belongs to it rather than to you. It can also affect whether the authorities regard you as self-employed, which the second guide covers.
Social channels and your own site
Some people advertise through social accounts, forums or a personal website. It costs little, the presentation is entirely yours and nobody takes a cut. For an established client base it can be enough on its own.
The risks are platform policy and discovery. Mainstream social platforms remove accounts in this sector with no notice and no appeal, which can erase years of following overnight. A personal site is safe from that but starts with no audience and has to be marketed. Neither gives you screening or a deposit.
Booking platforms
A booking platform is closer to how Airbnb or a barber app works than to a classifieds board. Profiles are verified, prices are published, clients book a specific slot and pay a deposit, and both sides carry a rating from previous bookings. Payment runs through the platform rather than being agreed in chat.
Nikita is this model. Listing is free and position cannot be bought; you set your own price, and my fee is the client’s deposit, which comes out of your price, not on top of it. In exchange you get identity-checked clients, a deposit before you confirm, prices that end the haggling, and photos and profiles hidden from search engines.
Picking, and using more than one
Nothing stops you from running a classifieds listing and a booking profile at once, and many people do. A useful way to decide is to compare what a month actually costs: a paid classifieds package charges whether or not it brings bookings, a commission charges only when one completes.
Where Nikita is weaker is plain: it is new, so the audience in a given city is smaller than an established portal, and if you want to haggle over price in chat you will not like published rates. Where it is stronger is that a booking arrives already verified, already paid into and already priced.
Questions I get asked
- Can I advertise in several places at once
- Yes. Nikita asks for no exclusivity. One profile per person on the platform is the only rule, and what you do elsewhere is your business.
- Can I pay to appear higher on Nikita
- No. There are no bumps, credits or featured slots, and no plan that improves your position. Ordering comes from the search itself, and the only charge is 10 percent of a completed booking.
- What happens to my photos
- They are served through the platform rather than from a public URL, so they are far harder to scrape, and profile pages are excluded from search engines. Photos on classifieds portals are usually public files that anyone can copy.
A phone number is enough to begin. Verification comes before your profile is published, never after.
